The 90210 Party

What: We would like to cordially invite you to the official 90210 Party on 9-02-10, yes that is September 2nd, 2010. For those of you who don’t know, this is a party 15 years in the making. Three 12-year olds dream to commemorate the 90210 legacy on the day that it most needs recognition, the day the title meets the date in a cosmic explosion of epic proportions that results in an event both sexual and violent!!! The Party is open to anybody with no cover, so come on down to the Peach Pit After Dark (M1-5 Lounge) for the bonanza and feel free to invite your friends. Early 90′s dress code is encourage but not required so bust out those flannels and ripped jeans. DJ’s are going to be crazy good so bring dancing shoes as well.

Convergence NYC Art Benefit to Help Operation Homefront

What: Artists from across the world converge in NYC to present an epic exhibition benefiting families who have lost loved ones due to the Afghan and Iraq wars.
Where: Historic 69th Fighting Regiment’s Armory located at 68 Lexington Ave & 25th St, NYC
When: August 27-29 9am- 1am

During these three days the public is invited to enjoy art and live music, while getting the unique opportunity to meet and mingle with the over 70 participating artists. Fifty percent of all sales will be donated to the NY/NJ chapter of Operation Homefront.

Operation Homefront provides emergency, financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. A national nonprofit, Operation Homefront leads more than 4,500 volunteers across 23 chapters and has met more than 267,000 needs since 2002. With over 70 Artist and Performers, CONVERGENCE NYC is going to be an exhibition of grand artistic proportions.

Brooklyn Independent Television

To honor the anniversary of the largest battle in the Revolutionary War, Brooklyn Independent Television is pleased to present The Battle of Brooklyn Remembered. This BIT Special will consist of a screening of the historical short film The Brave Man, an interview with local historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edwin Burrows as well as a viewing of “Brooklyn & The Revolutionary War: Building an American Identity,” part one of the three part BIT produced, student created historical documentary Reveal the Real: Kids Uncover the History of Brooklyn.
The Battle of Brooklyn Remembered is hosted by Joseph McCarthy, writer, producer and director of The Brave Man.

The Last Supper Festival 2010

Times Square Kiss-In




WHAT: On the anniversary of the end of World War II, the Times Square Alliance invites couples from all generations and of all types to celebrate again in Times Square, in honor of the US Armed Forces and in celebration of the universal ideals of peace, love and hope.

A special invitation is extended to couples whose kisses bridge boundaries, be they religious, political, racial, national or otherwise, as well as veterans of WWII, returning veterans from the Iraq War, and couples in costumes commemorating the original 1945 kiss.

WHEN: Saturday, August 14th.
Doors open at 10:00am. Program begins at 11:00am.

Dragon Boat Festival - Aug.7 & 8

Head on over to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park this weekend for
The Dragon Boat Races on Meadow Lake! There will be over 100 teams competing for HUGE prizes rowing on there "dragon" boat.

JAMS Festival - Day 2 - The Main Event

Cultural Collaborative Jamaica is pleased to present The Main Event -- Day 2 of the JAMS Festival. The Main Event is a day of multicultural family activities and entertainment. 10 blocks of Jamaica Avenue are closed to vehicular traffic, from Parsons Boulevard to 169th Streets, to host one of the largest tourist destinations in Queens. 450 ethnic vendors and more than 200 urban design stores will line Jamaica Avenue. 
The day will also include health and wellness demonstrations that will offer a great way to stay fit and healthy. Be sure to visit the artist galleries, a rock climbing wall, basketball hoops, football toss, and the double dutch station -- all run by fitness professionals. All of the above will be complemented by sound stages that will feature live entertainment representing premiere world music artists of Caribbean, Indian, African, and Latin American influence/descent on stage 1, and young emerging artists on stage 2.

Who: The Knights orchestral ensemble
What: The Knights are a fellowship of adventurous musicians who cultivate collaborative music making and who creatively engage audiences in the shared joy of musical performance. Based in New York City, The Knights expand the orchestral concert experience with their diverse programming, innovative formats, and unique atmosphere of camaraderie that creates the intimacy and immediacy of chamber music.

Last year, involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide held events. National Night Out (NNO) is designed to: Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
