Bryant Park Summer Film Festival

WHAT: It's a summer tradition and a true New York experience. Every summer, the HBO Film Festival screens great films on a giant screen in Bryant Park on Monday nights. New Yorkers flock to Bryant Park to picnic on the lawn and enjoy a great film under the stars with New York City as a backdrop.
All films begin at dusk (usually between 8 pm and 9 pm), but the lawn opens at 5 pm for blankets and picnicking (you can line up on the edges of the lawn starting at 4PM). Get there early and stake out a spot if you want a good view of the screen.

Astoria Park Shore Fest

Astoria Park Shore Fest is car-free celebration along Shore Boulevard in Astoria Park on August 21st from 1pm-7pm.

The Astoria Park Shore Fest includes extensive coordination with Green Shores NYC, Partnership for Parks and Astoria Music and Arts. It will include educational activities, live music, fitness programs and food-tastings with various neighborhood restaurants. Additional support is coming from the NYC Dept of Transportation, NYC Dept of Parks and Recreation, Build it Green NYC, and the Department of Transportation.

All events are FREE so come out and join the fun!

LCA Multicultural Art & Crafts Festival

What: LCA is hosting the 4th Annual Multicultural Art & Crafts Festival a conglomeration of Hispanic, African Americans, Asian, Italians and Greek populations. A section of Flushing Meadows Corona Park serves as an outdoor gallery providing Visual Artists with the opportunity to display their works for diverse attendees, but more importantly provides the opportunity for artists to make a direct connection between their art and the people who enjoy it- the public.  Live entertainment by BR & Timebomb, Neil Woodard and Friends, Whitney Kelley, Surette, SQPA Dancers, Capulli Mexican Dance Company, and more... The Jamaica Underwear Run

Underwear Run 2011

Here is all the information you need for Friday night.

The Jamaica Underwear Run starts at 7:30 PM at Cherry Hill on the 72nd Street Transverse. Enter Central Park on 72nd Street from the East or West side and just walk to the middle of the park.

Registration begins at 6:30 PM. You will get a Jamaica sweatband and baggage tags so you can check any belongings at the top of Cherry Hill. Don't bring any valuables. Items are left at your own risk.

Dress in your best Jamaican gear (whatever you consider that to be), and you could be on your way to fun in the sun in Jamaica! One winner will recieve a trip for two to Jamaica within the next year, courtesy of JetBlue and Iberostar Rose Hall! Judging is at 7:15 PM so make sure you're on Cherry Hill!

Live at the Gantries

Have your summer evenings melded together into one sticky night? Are you worried that maybe the dog days of summer will ease on by without you rubbing elbows with some of the coolest New Yorkers?
