St. Patrick's Day Parade

What: Whether you hail from the Emerald Isle is of no consequence—on St. Patrick's Day, everyone can lay claim to being at least a little bit Irish (even the City's bagels and beer, which can be got in green for the occasion). The parade itself lays claim to being the oldest (it was first held in 1762) and largest of its kind in the world. Clad yourself in kelly for the event and watch bagpipers, marching bands and assorted revelers from near and far as they march up Fifth Avenue.

ANALOGIA - Installation at Bryant Park

What: Analogia is an epic new public outdoor art installation making its worldwide debut at Bryant Park. The largest free-standing structure of its kind, Analogia is an overlapping of painting, architecture, and sculpture and will feature a performance component, soundscape designs and a lighting design.

A massive 60-foot edifice comprised of an overlapping tower and pyramid create a temporary gateway to Bryant Park. The imagery, inspired by sculptures from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, captures the inherent tension and similarity of world cultures in a Babel-like structure that juxtaposes Western and non-Western traditions.

Irish Arts Center Book Day 2014

What: From the Bronx to Staten Island, Manhattan’s Upper West Side to Brighton Beach, and stops in between, the Irish Arts Center will celebrate St Patrick’s Day by giving New Yorkers the gift of free Irish literature.
For our fourth annual Book Day, volunteers across the city will be handing out thousands of books to commuters and school children at transit hubs across all five New York City boroughs.
