B.A.C. MENTORS

Do you have a passion that you would like to share with young people? If so, the Business, Academics and Community Institute (B.A.C.) seeks to provide students with skills and experiences designed to support their personal growth. Key to the Institute is the active participation of the private sector, individuals and community who provide real world connections for our students through work experiences and weekly seminars. The combination of seminars and work experiences is incredibly effective as it builds students’ confidence and skills to pursue new opportunities and cultivates productive members of society. We invite you to become a part of the B.A.C Institute and the Queens Satellite High School for Opportunities community. From health to professionalism, entrepreneurship or the arts, your knowledge is valuable! Mentors can participate in one day sessions, or teach a seven-week seminar on a topic of your choice. Your company or colleagues can team-up with you to teach the seminar. Technical assistance for lesson planning and working with youth will be provided throughout your experience. Volunteers must like and respect young people, Some teaching or training background is a plus, but not required. Volunteers can sign-up for a one-time periodic sessions or provide more indepth mentoring over seven weeks. To take advantage of this volunteer opportunity, you must be available on Thursdays from 1:15 pm to 2:30 pm at pm or 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at an off-site location.
