47th Annual African American Day Parade

Native American Pow Wow & Festival

What: Bear Mountain Pow Wow is a full contest Pow Wow attracting over 500 Native American artists, educators, singers, dancers and performing groups from across the Americas. 90th Annual Feast of San Gennaro

What: Presented annually since 1996 by Figli di San Gennaro, Inc. (Children of San Gennaro), a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to keeping alive the spirit and faith of the early Italian immigrants. This year’s Feast is expected once again to attract more than one-million people from the four corners of the globe to the streets of Little Italy to participate in the annual Salute to the Patron Saint of Naples.

Although this is an annual celebration of faith, the Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere, an 11-day event featuring religious processions and colorful parades, free musical entertainment every day, a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, charming restaurants and cafes and even a world-famous cannoli-eating competition! The central focus of the celebration takes place every September 19th, the official Saint Day when a celebratory Mass is held in Shrine Church of the Most Precious Blood, followed immediately by a religious procession in which the Statue of San Gennaro is carried from its permanent home in the church through the streets that comprise Little Italy.

Movies Under the Stars: The Addams Family (1991)

What: Inspired more by the 1960s TV series than by the original Charles Addams New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family proved to be one of the more successful of the TV shows-turned-movies of the 1990s.
You should arrive before 7:30 p.m. to get your spot. Feel free to bring a blanket to sit on; there will be a limited supply of chairs available. Bottled water is OK, but no glass. Reservations are not taken; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All are welcome!

Fashion Week: Tommy Pier

The designer is pulling out all of the stops for New York Fashion Week. In addition to the runway show taking place on Sept. 9, Pier 16 will be transformed into a Tommy carnival with food, games, rides and, obviously, a Ferris wheel. The runway show will reportedly host 2,000 guests — half of that number being consumers. 

Free tickets will be distributed to loyal customers, and the items featured will be live-streamed and shoppable both online and in-store right after the show (#seenowbuynow). You can also view the live show in Times Square.

After the show, on Saturday 9/10, "Tommy Pier" will remain open, and feature Tommy x Gigi pop-up shops, an offering of vintage Hilfiger items, a record store and a salon offering nail art and temporary tattoos.
