Queens Hip Hop Festival

What: Taking place throughout Western Queens, the Queens Hip Hop Festival (QHHF) aims to celebrate music, art and film within the community.
Featured events include:
Friday, September 23rd:
Opening Party: 10:00pm – 2:00am, Flattopps (33-06 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria). Free party featuring music from DJ Rob Swift, an open mic or “cypher” will occur from 11:00pm – 12:00am. MC’s from throughout NYC are welcome.

Saturday, September 24th:
Artist Relaxation, An Art Show celebrating A Tribe Called Quest: 3:00-7:00pm, QNS Collective (36-27 36th Street, Astoria): Free Art show honoring the legacy of A Tribe Called Quest, music by DJ Floh Baybee.

Graffiti Walk: 4:00pm (Starting at 31-05 28th Road, Astoria): Led by Queens Stomp and graffiti legend Louie Gasparro, this tour will highlight graffiti and its history in Western Queens. Tickets: $25.

Queens Hip Hop Concert: 7:00pm-11:00pm, Shillelagh Tavern (47-22 30th Ave, Astoria): The festival concert will showcase up-and-coming talent in Queens. Artists include: Wordsmiff, Conflik, Cake Man, MelSwimnsGood and Jon Lewis. The concert is hosted by DJ Butchrock. Tickets: $15.

Sunday, September 25th:
‘Belly’ Screening: 4:00pm, Museum of Moving Image (36-01 35th Ave, Long Island City): Directed by Queens filmmaker Hype Williams, ‘Belly’ is an American crime drama starring all-time-great rappers Nas and DMX. Released in 1998, the iconic hip-hop film was Hype Williams’ directing debut. Tickets: $12.

Closing Party / BLVD Brunch: 12:00pm-12:00am, La Gloria (86-11 Northern Blvd, Jackson Heights): Free party with DJ’s throughout the day.
