Weekend Recap
This past weekend was enjoyable. The sun was out, the weather nice, and crowds of people everywhere. Not to mention the pollen was high and lots of allergy sufferers were trying to survive.
On Friday, we went to the movies to see "Thor", which was a good. Simple, to the story line, and not overdone. This arrogant warrior soon sees the error of his ways and sets out to amend them. The casting was good and the graphics and background scenery was a sight to see. Not in 3D mind you, which was fine with me.
Then on Saturday, we went to the Handmade Cavalcade Arts & Crafts Festival sponsored by NewNew, which was held at Slate Billiards and Bar this time. The setup was nice and spacious and we were the last ones to get goody bags. There were some sample items and coupons ans treats inside the bag. This year, they opted to go with a brown paper bag as opposed to last year's cloth tote bag. I bought a box of truffles and a tulip tote bag for my mother. I also sampled the truffles, garlic pickles, and a bloody mary, which was supposed to be spicy, but I didn't feel anything.
Afterward, we headed down to the Festival of Ideas which was in the Bowery and spanned for a few blocks. There were so many things to see and do and eat! It was a lot of fun and a lot of walking. Street fairs and festivals are back and everyone is out and about. Lots of community organizations and green projects and ideas and strange things.
Afterward, I walked over to Blick Art Store in Noho to pick up a couple of items before going home to prepare my ingredients for my Mother's Day meal. You can check out more photos on our Facebook page.

Give Your Stuff Away Day
Because of all the shopping we've done, many of us now own lots of great stuff we never use anymore. And for some reason, we don't sell or give it away. Lots of valuable suff - just wasting away.
Let's take all this stuff and over one weekend, make it available to others for free.
On May 14th, bring your unwanted stuff to your curb. Some guidelines - no trash, recyclables, illegal or dangerous items. No food, drugs, chemicals, or weapons. Just safe, valuable items we would like to donate. Then watch the fun – or better yet, take a walk and find some free stuff you can use.
This event will create the World's largest giveaway / recycling event - please be a part of it!
