Springtime/Art & Commerce
What: Grab a glass of wine and start the leisurely shopping spree by sifting through the handmade dresses and vintage-inspired fashions from LIC’s Ethereal Boutique (etherealnyc.com/store/), or the elegantly edgy stone jewelry crafted by local designer Lithos du Monde (lithosdumonde.com). Peruse the whimsical illustrations by paper and household goods producer Fisk and Fern (fiskandfern.com), and, just in time for weekends devoted to bike riding, discover how to make the most of cramped apartment space with storage-saving, solid maplewood bike shelves made by Astoria’s own UrbanCityBikeShelves (urbancitybikeshelves.com).
When you’re ready for a break, chow down on savory treats whipped up by neighborhood trattoria Vesta (vestavino.com), or perk up with a cup of well-made joe (and homey desserts) from LIC coffee haunt Sweetleaf (http://tinyurl.com/626ubh4). Peer at vibrant photos of local landscapes by TEN10’s Jesse Winter and listen to Astoria songstress Jeanne Boes (jeanneboes.com) croon.
