Free Game Design Jam for Teens

What: Play classic space-themed arcade games from the Museum's collection, then hack, modify, and create your own digital sci-fi games. The event is open to all interested teens, ages 14-19. It is completely free, and pizza will be served!

BellyQueen presents Journey Along the Silk Road

What: Bellyqueen, an internationally touring dance company based in NYC, celebrates it's 15th anniversary with “Journey Along the Silk Road”, a full length dance theater show about a princess who travels the ancient trade route linking east to west, in search of three ingredients to save her dying mother.

Creatives Rising

What: A full-on creative uprising is happening in Long Island City tonight. Presented by See.Me, a global community of creatives and art enthusiasts, this massive spectacle features the work of over 1,000 artists and involves a gallery show with live music, outdoor projections, a block party serving up food from folks like Alo Bar NYC and M. Wells, and a warehouse bash where you can dance past the witching the hour to the musical selections of DJ Nutritious and Robert Lux.

Bushwick Film Festival

What: A celebration of independents, the Bushwick Film Festival returns for its sixth year. Running four days, this year's festival includes the US premiere of the We Will Riot from young Lithuanian filmmaker Romas Zabarauskus, and the world premiere of Nick Frangione's Roxie. In addition to a hearty program of features, the competitive fest also includes shorts, a new media interactive day, panel discussions, parties, and a special screening of Lucy Mulloy's Una Noche. Brooklyn Flea Record Fair

What: On Saturday October 5th, the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair returns for its biggest edition yet. Featuring 55 vendors, the fair welcomes back veteran labels like Domino Records, DFA, True Panther, Captured Tracks, Minimal Wave and Warp, as well as newcomers Hometapes (visiting from Portland, OR), Frenchkiss and the venerable L.I.E.S.—25 labels total! Once again we've asked labels to reach deep into their vaults to find special items to sell exclusively at the fair. So far the items include out-of-print and yet-to-be-in-print albums, as well as limited edition colored vinyl, cassettes and 7”s.

Korean Parade & K-Town Festival

What: The Korean Wave rides into New York on Saturday, October 5 as the 33rd Korean Parade & K-town Festival returns with its annual array of Korean culture. New York’s Korean Parade & K-town Festival mixes popular Korean culture with the traditional, running the gamut from rock balladeer Jang-hoon Kim, who will headline the K-Pop Concert, to Korean traditional dancing, drumming and martial arts (Taekwondo). New Yorkers are invited to participate in the festivities, which will include the parade (Sixth Avenue between 38th Street and 27th Street from noon to 2 pm); the K-town Festival (a street fair in Koreatown, 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue from 10 am to 5 pm); and the K-Pop Concert produced by TKC (The Korean Channel) (Fifth Avenue and 32nd Street from 2pm to 4 pm).
