J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions #TOC18

What: The J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, the world’s grandest squash championship and the only sports championship presented annually in Grand Central Terminal, features all the world’s very best players competing for one of the most coveted titles in professional squash. This PSA Tour World Series tournament celebrates its 21st anniversary in Grand Central Terminal this coming January 18-25, 2018, offering 25 sessions of play on the all-glass Oracle NetSuite Challenge court while providing both reserved ticket seating and free viewing to the public for the entirety of the event.

The ToC, as it is affectionately known to players and fans, is the best known and most viewed squash tournament in the world and is consistently identified as the “best tournament on Tour” by the PSA players. It is one of eight World Series events sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), one of five to offer equal prize money and draw size for both men and women, and the only one to have been staged in the same venue for two decades. Fans will be able to catch the action in Grand Central from the ticketed seats in the stadium, free standing room at the front wall or on closed circuit TV screens in Great Northern Food Hall on the west side of Vanderbilt Hall.

What: The holiday season is a time of joy for kids of all ages and nothing says holiday enchantment quite like dazzled little faces watching in wonderment as model trains zip through tunnels, by subway stops, around familiar skyscrapers and through iconic city-scapes. To the delight of kids and railroad enthusiasts alike, the New York Transit Museum will continue its tradition of capturing hearts and imaginations at the 16th Annual Holiday Train Show at Grand Central Terminal, running through the New Year. The event is free and open to the public.

Tree Lighting Skate-tacular @BryantParkNYC

What: Tree Lighting Skate-tacular is an original holiday tale about a very special family on the night before Christmas. This year’s event, narrated by Tony Award winning, Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actress, Jane Krakowski (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), will feature a stellar line up of live performances from Olympic and World Champion skaters including Johnny Weir, Kimmie Meissner, Meryl Davis, Charlie White and Jeff Buttle, followed by ice skating for all.

2017 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

What: The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a world-wide symbol of the holidays in New York City. The 2017 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be lit for the first time on Wednesday, November 29, with live performances from 7–9pm, at Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th and West 51st Streets and Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Thousands crowded the sidewalks for the event and millions watched it live across the globe. The Tree will remain lit and can be viewed until 9pm on January 7, 2018.

18th Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square #WintersEve

What: On Monday, November 27, 2017 the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District and presenting sponsor, Time Warner, Inc., will host the Eighteenth Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square – New York’s largest holiday festival! Join legendary artists, up-and-coming musicians, dancers, street performers and more as we welcome the holiday season and light up the Upper West Side with an evening of music, food, dancing and fun for everyone.

Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Balloon Inflation

What: Taking place in the afternoon and evening before Thanksgiving Day, at the Macy's Parade balloon inflation you'll get a preview of the larger-than-life characters in the next day's parade. 

Tips for Going to the Parade Balloon Inflation
The earlier you arrive, the less crowded it will be. No backpacks will be allowed. Central Park West will be shut down starting at noon.

Pick a good spot. There is a designated viewing path for observers. The path for the balloon inflation winds around the American Museum of Natural History, beginning at 79th and Columbus and travels along Columbus Avenue, 77th Street, Central Park South, and exits at 81st Street.

Consider taking public transit to the balloon inflation. Crowds will make parking nearby nearly impossible and access to the area will be difficult for taxis. The subway trains serving the balloon inflation area are B or C to 81st Street/Museum of Natural History.

Keep your kids close. If you're visiting with young children, keep a close eye on them.
