New York Indian Film Festival

What: New York City has gone Bollywood! The New York Indian Film Festival is the world’s oldest and most prestigious movie series dedicated to feature, documentary and short films made in — or simply about — the Indian subcontinent. Organized over five days, the extravaganza features screenings, post-screening discussions, industry panels, nightly networking parties, red carpet galas, media attention and packed audiences.

On May 4, Flushing Town Hall gets in on the action with the Dosa Hunt, which tells the funny tale of a diverse group of music-world friends on a quest to find their hometown’s best dosa, a South Indian crepe. Following this short is The Human Factor, a documentary focusing on the Lords, a Parsi family whose contribution to Hindi film music parallels that of any of the great music directors or singers, yet is widely unknown.

When: Saturday, May 4 | 7pm – 9pm
Where: Flushing Town Hall: 137-35 Northern Boulevard, Flushing

Cost: $10/$5 for members and students with ID
