East River Commedia presents the 4th annual undergroundzero festival

Underground zero's festival program covers a great deal of ground. Here are a few highlights. Underground pop art deity Andy Warhol gets his own "15 minutes" plus some in Theatre Bielefeld's Forever Art. Francis Poulenc's  La Voix Humaine (The Human Voice) was unusual choice for an opera in 1959 because it is a duet between a soprano and telephone. Performance Lab 115 also takes an operatic cue by eliminating 19+ hours of Wagner and focusing on current mythologizing with The Ring: Inside the Squared Circle, Part I. East River Commedia is previewing its own epic-in-progress. AutoMotive is the first part of a trilogy exploring American identity starting with that permanent, unreliable, sexy, and dangerous status symbol - the car.
