The Seaport Music Festival continues tonight with Free Energy, Best Coast and Loose Limbs. “When cult Minneapolis band Hockey Night broke up a few years ago, Scott Wells and Paul Sprangers continued to perform under that name. Joined by Geoff Buckham, Nicholas Shuminsky, and Evan Wells, the quintet is now known as Free Energy, dubbed “one of the best live bands in America,” by SPIN, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. The sound is guitar-heavy and totally unironic and reminiscent of Tom Petty and Mick Jagger. Stuck on Nothing (DFA, 2010) was produced by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy.”
