What: Join Friends of the High Line and artist Demetrius Oliver to celebrate the Jupiter Opposition, the day Earth passes between the Sun and Jupiter, making the distant planet clearly visible. The Jupiter Opposition coincides with Demetrius Oliver'sJupiter, a major public art commission presented by Friends of the High Line that combines original photography, live music performances, and stargazing on the High Line. Student musicians from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music will perform "Jupiter" by John Coltrane and the New York chapter of the Amateur Astronomers Association will bring their high-powered telescopes to the High Line for stargazing.
When: Stargazing with the Amateur Astronomers Association will take place TONIGHT from dusk until 9:30 PM.
Where: Music from 8:00 - 9:00 PM along the High Line.
