What: Brooklyn native and 2012 New York City Youth Poet Laureate, Ishmael
Islam, otherwise known as "Ish," is only 20 years old, but he's already
an accomplished poet, musician, filmmaker, graphic artist, emcee and
performer. On Sunday, he brings his stirring spoken word poetry to
Brooklyn Bridge Park for a collaboration with the Brooklyn Philharmonic
Orchestra, which will accompany Ish’s work with contemporary chamber
music by Mark Mellits, Don Byron and Randall Woolf. The free show takes
place at the Granite Prospect on the waterfront.
