Brooklyn Philharmonic Strings and Slam Poets

What: Brooklyn native and 2012 New York City Youth Poet Laureate, Ishmael Islam, otherwise known as "Ish," is only 20 years old, but he's already an accomplished poet, musician, filmmaker, graphic artist, emcee and performer. On Sunday, he brings his stirring spoken word poetry to Brooklyn Bridge Park for a collaboration with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, which will accompany Ish’s work with contemporary chamber music by Mark Mellits, Don Byron and Randall Woolf. The free show takes place at the Granite Prospect on the waterfront.
